This album is meant to be a journey with special focus on the piano character. Starting with a grand entrance that is probably a bit too self-important, the piano finds itself in over its head in Presence Plunges. Things are intense, and it's not clear whether this journey is going. But after going through the initial intensity, things become much more happy and fun in Sunscreen Smile. Our piano is grooving with a new ensemble of instruments, and taking the opportunity to express itself in new ways. This excitement develops into a more confident participation in a stronger and more driving track (Always Afternoon) before getting to Friendly Foliage where the piano ceases to exist - it's only nature and the groove. Our piano is reborn into a new version of itself filtered and excited about a more disco-y sound in Pocket Pistachios. This gives way to a much more relaxed, multifaceted piano in Backyard Barbecue that acts as support and a sounding board for new saxophone friends. In Backyard Barbecue, the piano also returns to the main theme from the introduction in a slightly modified form, and with a slightly different tone.

Thanks to Will and Jordan for being supportive throughout the album's creation, to Kristof and Cade for helping with two of the songs, to Amelia for listening to song drafts even after exhausting projects in the field, and to Kaye for letting me play loud meetings when she was in meetings.
